Swine Flu...

I am sure everyone is aware of the new "swine flu" in Mexico so I wanted to send out an update on things. There is no one in our area that has been affected with this flu. Mexico is trying to take the proper precautions to control this outbreak as best they can. They has canceled school nation wide until May 6th along with other public events. We are trying as well to take the proper precautions as best we can with things such as hand washing more frequently, and being wise about the places we go to and the things that we do. Like I said before no one in our area has been affected by this. Please continue to be in prayer for this country that seems to be under huge attack- from the drug cartels to the swine flu Mexico is being hit pretty hard. Keep the health advisers in your prayers, that they would know what to do and how to properly inform the country on how to respond to this. Also prayer for the people, for protection and wisdom. Thanks for you support!!

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
- Psalm 19:1-4

Recently God has been overwhelming me by his creation, his beautiful kingdom that just screams His name. How incredible is it that we serve a God that is so visible to us by our every day surroundings!!! In Psalm 19:3 it says " There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard." For me, I find myself a little frustrated at times when I can't find the Spanish words to express me feelings or to get a point across, but God has no bounds! Every where we look His creations screams of his glory and his righteousness! We can never escape it! How awesome is that!!!

New Years and New Babies :-)

We had a wonderful New Years here in Mexico. We had a traditional dinner and party with our kids earlier New Years Eve, which included three piñatas, punch and yummy soup. Then our four oldest dorms and our staff here attended the New Years church service. New Years is always going to be a difficult holiday for my family and I because it is also the anniversary of my fathers death, but God always finds a special way to express his unfailing love for me on that day. This time is was with a worship song. At my dads funeral service we sang the song " I'm trading my sorrows, and say Yes Lord Yes Lord Yes Yes Lord", and even here in Mexico we sang that song. How true are those lyrics! Yes Lord!
Along with the new year, my roommate and I adopted a new responsibility. Our house is located directly across from the animal pins, and two nights ago at 9 pm two little lambs were born. One the mom accepted and the other the mom kept head budding and would refuse to let her eat. So my roommate and I decided to take care of her. She is so tiny and precious...but a lot of work. We have to feed her by bottle and everything.
Thanks for all of your support!

Merry Christmas Y Feliz Navidad a todos!!!
Christmas at the orphanage was amazing!!
We enjoyed the traditional Mexican Christmas meal that consisted of tamales, buñuelos , and y
ummy punch, and then went to our church for a three hour Christmas Eve service.
This Christmas was a very humbling experience for me and it was overwhelming to see how much God can provide for His Children. Each of our kids received a generous amount of Christmas gifts to open Christmas morning. It took myself and two other volunteers to sort out 117 kids gifts, and they were all opened within twenty minutes :-)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!! Feliz Navidad!

Trial # 1

Hey everyone!
I am going to try this new blog site. I figure it will be a lot easier for people to follow me and what all the Lord is teaching me, as well as easier for me because I updated it more often than an e-mail!
Here is the website of the orphanage that I am working at: www.dofo.org. There you can read about the orphanage, meet some of the other staff there, as see some pictures of the kids there!
